BESS2 Job Creation User Guide

Overview

From 14 August 2026, eligible NSW Retailers can create BESS2 Jobs through the GreenDeal Retailer Portal and complete the required application process.

This guide explains how to:

  • Enable BESS2 Job Creation Permission

  • Create BESS2 Jobs

  • Collect required BESS2 information

  • Submit BESS2 Jobs

As part of the BESS2 application process, GreenDeal works with Discover Energy, the nominated Energy Retailer, to help customers complete their VPP onboarding.


1. BESS2 Incentive Onboarding

1.1 First-time Onboarding

For customers who have not enabled BESS2 Incentive, an Admin user can access:

Retailer Portal → Dashboard and the BESS2 Incentive prompt will be displayed.

Click I need this to open the BESS2 Incentive onboarding process or Click I don’t need this to ignore BESS2 Incentive.


The onboarding process includes three steps:

Step 1: Sign Terms & Conditions

Retailers need to complete the BESS2 Terms & Conditions signing process.

The system uses the existing customer signature module, allowing users to select an existing signature to complete the signing process.

Step 2: Upload Certificate of Currency (COC)

Retailers need to upload:

  • Certificate of Currency (COC)

  • COC Expiry Date

📌 Note: This step can be skipped during the onboarding process.

Step 3: Complete BESS2 Training

On the Training page, users can:

  • Click Training to complete the training and sign required documents;

  • Download Training Modules.

This step can also be skipped during the onboarding process.

To completing the training, users need to:

  1. Enter their name;

  2. Enter their position;

  3. Tick: I have fully read all the training materials

The system will automatically verify the training result and update the training status to: Passed


1.2 Permanent Access Entry

The permanent BESS2 Incentive entry is available at:

Retailer Portal → Setting → BESS2 Incentive

From this page, users can:

  • Enable or manage BESS2 Incentive;

  • Upload Certificate of Currency (COC);

  • Set COC Expiry Date;

  • Complete online training.


2. How to create a BESS Job

GreenDeal supports two ways to create a BESS2 Job:

  1. Create a standalone BESS2 Job or apply BESS2 together with an STC-Battery installation through: Retailer Portal → PV/BAT Jobs → Create a Job

  2. Generate a BESS2 Job from an existing STC-Battery Job through: Retailer Portal → Lodged Jobs


2.1 Create a BESS2 Job

Go to: Retailer Portal → PV/BAT Jobs → Create a Job. On the Job creation page, BESS2 is available as a selectable Work Type. Select: Work Type → BESS2

📌 Key Requirements When Creating a BESS2 Job

Before creating a BESS2 Job, please ensure:

1.BESS2 Training

The Retailer must complete BESS2 Training and the training status must be: Passed before creating a BESS2 Job.

2. Certificate of Currency (COC)

Before creating a Job, the Retailer must:

  • Upload Certificate of Currency (COC);

  • Set COC Expiry Date.

The BESS2 Job can only be created when the COC is valid and COC Expiry Date has not expired.

3. Installation Address

The BESS2 Job installation address must be located within: NSW

4. Installer Information Collection

BESS2 Jobs support two options for information collection:

Option 1: No Installer Required On Site

If the Retailer does not require an Installer to:

  • Collect BESS2 Job information onsite;

  • Visit the Owner to complete Nomination Form signing;

Please turn off:

Option 2: Installer Required On Site

If the Retailer requires an Installer to:

  • Collect BESS2 Job information onsite;

  • Visit the Owner to complete Nomination Form signing;

Please turn on👇 and make sure the Installer must also:

  • Upload Certificate of Currency (COC);

  • Ensure the COC has not expired;

  • Complete BESS2 Training.


Invite Installer to Complete BESS2 Training

Go to: Retailer Portal → Installer

  1. Select the Installer you want to invite and click the invitation button.

  2. The Installer will receive a registration invitation through the GreenDeal App Notification;

  3. The Installer clicks the link in the notification:

    1. Complete required information;

    2. Upload required documents;

    3. Submit the Application Form.

The system will automatically process the approval.


2.2 Generate BESS2 from Previous STC-Battery Job

For NSW STC-Battery Jobs that have previously been lodged in GreenDeal and require BESS2 application, Retailers can generate a BESS2 Job directly.

Go to: Retailer Portal → Lodged Jobs

Step 1: Filter Eligible STC-Battery Jobs

Select: Only BESS2 eligible jobs to find STC-Battery Jobs eligible for BESS2 Job creation.

Step 2: Generate BESS2 Job

For eligible Jobs: Click the: BESS2 icon to generate a BESS2 Job.

Step 3: Complete Additional BESS2 Information

After the BESS2 Job is created, the system will display a reminder on the BESS2 Job Detail page. The reminder will inform Retailers that additional BESS2-related information and supporting documents are required before submission.

Before clicking Lodge PRC, Retailers can use: Auto Check to review missing information and identify the required materials that need to be completed or uploaded.

Complete the required information based on the Auto Check results before submitting the BESS2 Job.


3. Information Collection

3.1 Nomination Form Signing

Retailers can find the Nomination Form from:

Job Detail → Statement

Click: Send Message to Owner

to send the Nomination Form to the Owner via:

  • SMS;

  • Email.


Installer On-site Signing

Qualified Installers can access the BESS2 Job through the GreenDeal Installer App.

Go to: Signatures → Owner

The Installer can ask the Owner to complete the Nomination Form signing onsite.


Upload Offline Signed Nomination Form

If the Nomination Form has already been signed offline:

Go to: Statement, then click: Photo of Physical Copy to upload the completed Nomination Form.


3.2 On-site Information Collection

The following information needs to be collected onsite by the Installer, or provided by the Retailer / Owner:

  • Battery Serial Numbers

  • CCEW

  • Battery Installed

  • Panel Installed

  • Battery Make and Model


3.3 Additional Supporting Documents

Before submission, the Retailer or Owner needs to prepare:

  • Copy of email with fact sheets

  • Electricity Bill

  • VPP Contract

  • Evidence of the battery being Onboarded

  • Battery Warranty Document (if applicable)

  • Tax Invoice to the Purchaser (if applicable)

  • Revocation of previous BESS2 nomination (if applicable)


4. Submission

4.1 Lodge & Settle

Once all required information has been prepared and Auto Check shows no errors, the Retailer can submit the BESS2 Job.

Click: Lodge on the Job page.

A submission window will open. Confirm the amount, then click: Lodge & Settle to complete the BESS2 Job submission.
