04 | 🏪 How to Create a BESS4 Job

BESS4 is a Battery Energy Storage System Activity under the NSW Battery Incentive and is designed primarily for Small and Medium Business Battery Projects in NSW.

Typical projects may include:

📌 BESS4 applies to eligible battery systems with a combined usable battery capacity greater than 20 kWh and up to 200 kWh.

Before creating a BESS4 Job, confirm that the project generally meets the applicable BESS4 eligibility requirements.

📌 The selected BESS Activity must match the actual installation scenario and system configuration.

📌 Do not select a BESS Activity based only on the battery size or the name of the site.

Before creating the Job, make sure the required PRC setup has been completed.

A Retailer Admin User must have completed:

Confirm that:

Training Status = Passed

Once the required setup and Training have been completed, the corresponding BESS Job Creation permission will become available.

Go to: Retailer Portal → PV/BAT Jobs → Create a Job

Select: BESS4

If the project also includes STC-Battery or STC-PV, select the applicable combination.

📌 The Work Type cannot be changed through standard Job editing after the Job has been created. Make sure the correct combination is selected before creating the Job.

After selecting BESS4, the relevant declarations will appear.

Confirm that:

Complete the required declarations before continuing.

Enter the required Job Summary information as prompted.

Enter the required Owner and Business information.

📌 Business Classification: Select the category from the dropdown that best matches the customer's primary business activity.

Make sure the information matches the actual project details.

The BESS4 Installation Address must be located in NSW.

Start typing the address and GreenDeal will automatically suggest and complete matching addresses.

GreenDeal will also display relevant Solar Panel installation information for the property.

Review the information and update it where required based on the actual project.

📌 The Site Attributes displayed may vary depending on the selected Work Type combination and the information entered for the project. Complete the fields shown in GreenDeal based on the actual installation.

GreenDeal will automatically display the NMI(s) associated with the Installation Address.

If multiple NMIs are found, select the correct NMI for the project, then complete the remaining System Information.

⚠️ Follow any on-screen validation messages before continuing.

Enter the Scheduled Date of Install based on the actual project schedule.

Then add the applicable equipment for the project:

Select the equipment and complete the fields shown in GreenDeal.

GreenDeal will automatically display or calculate the relevant capacity information and applicable PRC limits based on the selected equipment.

📌 Make sure the Scheduled Date of Install and equipment details entered in GreenDeal match the actual project.

BESS4 has specific Battery Qualification requirements for the Installer and Designer.

GreenDeal will also check the applicable PRC Eligibility requirements.

Once the BESS4 Job has been created, the Installer will need to complete:

A. The required Nomination Form steps.

B. On-Site Selfies and Required Evidence.

C. Serial Numbers, Checklist items, Certificates and required documents.

Once the required Job information, documents and Auto Check are complete, click Lodge PRC.

Select the applicable payment method, review the displayed price, then click Lodge & Settle.

After lodgement, the Job will enter GreenDeal Compliance Review.
